Pierce-Arrow Society Annual Meet
Come to the Pierce-Arrow Society's 2019 Annual Meet in Auburn, Indiana and visit the Heartland of America !
Join us for many exciting tours, historical places, and step back-in-time to when country resorts brought 'Torurists' out to enjoy nature in a park setting.
Tuesday, while the Board Meetings are in session, there will be a selection of places to go on your own, to see and visit some of the places we won’t have time for during the remainder of the week.
Tuesday evening we will have our traditional Welcome Party with live music provided by PAS members and friends.
On Wednesday, we will first drive through the Lake James area, adjacent to the Park, and then on to the Mid America Windmill Museum. This will be a coffee and donuts stop, as well as a great place to get some unique photos of your Pierce Arrow among the many windmills. A movie and tours of the Museum will be available to us.
From the Windmill Museum we will tour on Indiana back roads to a private car collection, with many Pierce-Arrow cars and several other marques. We will have a Bar-beque lunch while we view the many cars.
After lunch we head back toward Auburn, and stop at the newly expanded V8 Ford Museum. Then we head back to the Park and Inn for the evening. The swap meet will be open this evening.
Thursday morning we will board buses for our road trip to South Bend, to visit the Studebaker Museum and the Oliver House Museum. We will have a lunch on the Museum grounds, then board our buses for a short ride to another private car collection and an Ice Cream Social.
We return to the Park and Inn, and Dinner will be on your own. The swap meet will be open again this evening.
Friday morning we take our Pierce Arrow cars on a short drive to the nearby city of Angola Indiana. We will ‘take over’ the central town square and traffic-circle, and all the parking surrounding the circle. We will have a parade of Pierces around the circle and it’s Civil War Monument. Photos and videos to be taken.
From Angola, we head south to Auburn, and the ACD Museum, and the NATMUS Museum, which has more than doubled it’s museum area in recent years. We will have lunch at the Natmus Museum, and have tours through the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum.
We return to the Pokagon State Park, and the last night of the Swap Meet. We’ll clean up our cars for the Show and Judging event to be held on the huge front lawn of the Potawatomi Inn. Lake James and the Inn will provide a very picturesque background for our car show.
On Saturday, along with the car show and judging, there will be a Ladies Tea - a very special event this year! There will be a Technical Session on Saturday afternoon, so bring your questions! Saturday evening we will have our awards banquet, with the Potawatomi Inn’s award-winning buffet and deserts.
We will have a ‘Drive a Pierce’ event where PAS members, family, or attending friends will have an opportunity to get behind the wheel of a Pierce Arrow, and drive it on the many Park roads, that are virtually deserted. Special training on driving and shifting a Pierce Arrow will be offered to those young adults that might not yet have been allowed to drive their family’s Pierce Arrow....yet.
The Angola Fire Department will give us a fire fighting lesson, highlighting the difference between CO2, Dry Chemical and Halon-type fire extinguishers. We hope the entire family will watch this demonstration, since a fire can happen anywhere, and could endanger anyone.
