Hi Richard: look to see if there is a location for a rubber button to be fastened or glued to. This rubber button would act as a bumper for the door to rest against, preventing rattles and chipped paint..

I do think that some cars have some form of ‘gasket’ or seal that sits in the channel around the perimeter of the vent door, but does not block the drains. I do not recall what cars I’ve seen that on, or if it is even correct.

I’m not at home to go look at the cowl vents on my ’29.
