On my 836, I am assuming that you turn the large hex head on the backing plate clockwise to tighten and counter to loosen? My brakes are so frozen, I do not want to go the wrong way.

    As always thanks in advance.

Bill: You are correct. I suggest that you order PAS Service Bulletins 74-1 and 83-6. PASB 74-1 is a rerprint of an eight page Stewart-Warner service bulletin on the maintenance of the braking system and PASB 83-6 also has good information although some is the same. I went through the brakes on my car several years ago and was surprised to find such parts as brake shoe retaining pins, springs and spring cups still available at a local parts store.
