I am interested in improving the stopping capibility of my 1930, Model A, 7 passenger sedan. I understand that there is a product called Green Gripper and was interested in what other peoples experience was with this product, or what type of brake lining is recommended. Thank.s
I write a newsletter for the Franklin Club. In my December 2013 issue, I included a one-page commentary on brake lining.

I reference an article in the Horseless Carriage Gazette by Bill Otterman on the subject, and continue with experience of Franklin people.
The bottom line seems to be that Green Gripper experiences pronounced fade at higher temperatures where other linings do not. Indisputable results, however, are inconclusive.
Note also that the thrust of my article was on earlier Franklins with driveshaft brake systems. All of the linings referenced are used on later shoe-brakes like your 1930 Pierce. I reference this to be a data point for Pierce drivers with the request that anyone who has used Green Gripper on a heavy car with four-wheel shoe-brakes, like a Pierce, to weigh in with their experience.
