I ran across this ad this morning for a 1931 Model 43 5P Sedan for sale on ebay item #151479489743.

Has anyone ever seen an outside visor on an early 8 Pierce-Arrow sedan? I have not seen another one on a 1931 Model 43. Was this an option or an aftermarket piece?
It is funny, Milton’s car was at the 2011 meet and I didn’t notice the visor, but I did in the eBay listing.
Visors like that were a common feature on either models 36 or 81 in 1928. Rich LeRoy should see if such a visor was offered in 1929 or 1930 as printed in the catalogue he currently holds. I don’t remember seeing such on many such cars, but I believe I have a picture of a 1930 taken at a car show, using one. I think they must be after market, or removed from an earlier model.
I am new to the group and currently the high bidder on the car. Does anyone know more history on this car? I am a young member and this would be my first pierce. I currently have two 30’s Packards and a 32 Auburn.
Any advice would be appreciated

Hi,
I looked through the accessory brochure. There is no mention of a visor. With that said, you could have almost anything custom back in the day.

The visor had to be listed somwhere. Some cars in the sales brochure have it and with a quick search of the net, I found at least 6 that had it as well.
There is an external visor listed in the 1929 catalogue options page I posted here about a week ago. Cheers

If I recall, the car was listed on eBay in 2010 (Missouri sounds about right). I don’t remember if Milt won the auction or bought the car offline. Have you spoken with Milt, the owner? He is a current PAS member. The car was at the 2011 meet in Fairport, New York and ran the track at Watkins Glen. With the serial number of the car, other PAS members might be able to identify if it was known prior to Milt’s ownership.
The 1931 Willoughby bodied custom 41 Limo Richard showed has a teen’s cast aluminum style body and is absolutely not representative of other 1931’s. Two were built to the order of two brothers who wanted new cars with bodies like their old ones. This unique car has been on display in the Pierce-Arrow Museum for several years.
The photo was not for the car itself but the visor. As peviously pointed out the visor was the issue at hand. As Jak pointed out the visor was a option listed in the 29 option catalog.
