Does anyone have an original or have a repro convertible top wing nut for sale? This is where the convertible top fastens to the windshield.
They are quite unique looking. Kinda looks like Mickey mouse ears.
Hi Rick,
I see two wingnuts, one is a wing bolt, that’s the lower one in the photo, and a wing nut, that is the locking nut in the middle of the mechanism.
Are you needing the whole assembly? or just the center wing [locking] nut?
Greg Long
Just the top wing nut with the large wings. However, Im not adverse to taking the whole assembly so you don’t have ot break it up.
I’d unscrew the one you want and post a photo of it by itself. it might jog a memory cell or two and someone might recognize the part in a box of parts lying around.
Good luck with that search. Open car hardware is often difficult to find.
You might have to have one made for you, or your existing one repaired.

They may not be exact to the Pierce design, but maybe could be modified, from the following suppliers, :
Antique Auto Top Hardware Company, Kim Dawson, 503-8245888 http://www.AntiqueAutoTopHardware.com (has a bronze casting blank, can be modified and threaded to fit) Oregon
Restoration Supply Company, http://www.RestorationStuff.com , 800-3067008 (has a couple different wingnuts that you might add a bolt to and modify) California
Your restorer should be familiar (if he’s not) with Restoration Supply as they have lots of interesting, hard to find stuff…also, McMaster Carr is a gold mine of hardware if you look, and once you set up an account, you order one day and it’s in your hands the next.
We know of Rest hardware. I always try to get an original first. thanks
Just options, as mentioned, open car hardware is hard to come by….hope you find some originals!!!
