I have a couple of Delco dual distributors and would like to get access to service, repair and operation literature. Does anyone here have any spare condensers or other parts? I can’t find the model number on the 6 cylinder (incomplete Pierce-Arrow unit). The second unit is a 4 cylinder unit and is complete. Where should that number be located? If you have any experience or know of a few loose parts, please drop me a note.

    Alan,

There is usually a black and silver tag on the side. Since the these are dual points, I would think the one you list a 4 cylinder is actually for an 8. The 8’s have a 4 lobe cam and the points are 45 degrees apart

Here is a post on the AACA on Delco-Remy Dual points.

The condenser I have been told to use is an Onan Generator 312-0256, if memory serves me. RV places have them. (below). I took the number off with lacquer thinner, so I can’t verify.

I have a picture of the inside of a dual point for a ’33 836

    Can you post some pics?

Hello Bill, The “dual Point” distributors, in the pictures above, are in fact for the 8’s. The dual distributor I am speaking about is from the time frame of late teens to mid 20’s. The 6 cylinder version was used on the 48’s and probably the 38’s or newer equivalent models. (I do not know those cars that well). The 4 cylinder version, I have, would be very similar to what the earlier 4 cylinder Stutz, Pierce-Arrow trucks and others used. It has a single aluminum case and two 4 cylinder distributor caps, each to fire a set of spark plugs. That would make this a two spark system, an update to the two spark magnetos of the day. I will try to get and post a few pictures in the next few days. Hopefully someone can give me some direction and potentially a source for interchange parts.

    Al
