Hi all,
I’m not dead, nor bankrupt. ( close lolo).
I was told that the starting of the 29 DC will be in the next two weeks. I hope this is true. First time in 65 years.
I will keep you updated.
I also picked final paint colors. Actually picked from tiny paint samples. Omg! The paint. It’s going back together. Yay!
More soon. Rick
Sounds Great, Rick! Make sure you do a video of the inaugural start. Hope it happens before your first blizzard of the season!
Great news.
As Bob mentioned, make sure to take lots of video and post it so we can all share in your start up experience.
Great to hear from you! Absolutely, take a video of the start, and when you take the video, make sure you accidently show us the body colors! Great news, welcome back!
Bob, he’s going to beat you! To those of you who don’t know, Bob gave his engine to a good friend of mine to rebuild, and I told him at the time, though the machinist is a good friend of mine, slow to return work doesn’t even describe it. I think Bob’s engine has been there, ummmm, 3 years maybe? Don’t feel bad, my machinist friend had one of my engines for 7 years, has to be a record…
It has been 3 1/2 years, thank you. As I tell my kids, the truth is WAY better than fiction. The good thing is, this guy is a true master, he simply dances to a different drummer, shall we say…
I have tried to use the “excuse” that I need the car for various weddings and other DC related political events. Guess I will have to drive the ’56 Bird again for the inaugural parade. During Reagan’s second inaugural, the secret service wanted to keep the car at Andrews Air Force Base the day before so they could take it apart to ensure it didn’t contain an incendiary device. It is an original, 33k mile car with original paint, upholstery, and engine. If the parade hadn’t been cancelled for the weather (6 degrees F), I was ready to politely decline to participate. Welcome to Washington!
Funny story. Funny now! Last week the mechanic called me and said there is a problem. The engine is locked up. The engine re builder and mechanic got together to see the problem.
Well, when it was being worked on, the car slipped into gear and engine ofcourse would not turn. They both laughed and beat themselves in the head. They were panicing.
Dave: The body is still off the frame. Engine with be started on frame only. Guess those secret colors will just have to wait a bit longer. hehehhe evil laugh.
