    My ’31 phaeton had a vacuum hose that had a very thin wall. What can be purchased at parts stores now is very thick wall.

    Anyone know of a source for the thin wall vacuum hose? Mine has dry rotted completely.

    McMaster Carr has thin wall round rubber tubing but it may not have enough internal strength to avoid being pulled shut under vacuum. It has been used as conduit for S80 tail light wiring and for low-tension wiring entering the metal spark plug wire conduit.

    My 1930 roadster has but short pieces of conventional vacuum hose connecting metal tubing running inside the windshield frame.

    Yes, my phaeton has all the metal tubing too, am trying to find something that doesn’t stick out as much as the available vacuum tubing…I’ll check on the McMaster Carr stuff, that resource is great, order one day and on your doorstep the next!

    Is it visible? If not, use the tubing Stihl uses for their small engines. It is clear, thin walled, and reasonably strong. It’s also not cheap. You might also try an HVAC supplier, like RE Michel. They have lots of tubing used for condensate lines, etc. that may work.

    Try medical and laboratory supply vendors: they offer a myriad of small-diameter tubing and associated fittings.

    Bob, yes, it’s visible, it runs along the windshield frame, so clear is not an option……thanks, Randy, that’s an interesting thought, will check up on it….

    I saw some Bosch 1/8 inch copper tubing on the rack at Advanced Auto Parts last evening; it is intended to connect an oil pressure gauge but it sure looked about right for connecting the wiper vacuum system on our Cars. Just FYI

    Any idea what diameter the metal tube is? I am assuming 1/8 or 7/32.

    I have several 50 foot rolls of vacuum tubing that is probably 10 years old. Let me know the size and I will check to see if I have any in stock. You still have to come by and check out the zero energy house. It has decent wine and beer, and a steak or two…

    My roadster has 3/16 tube. The car and my calipers were very accessible :-)
