Just a heads up on dealing with Jeff from Novelty Motors. I bought all the 33’ pierce arrow parts that were listed in November’s emporium issue. His listing was for all parts to be sold as a lot. I drove 1200 miles and loaded up all the parts that he had identified. Before leaving we discussed that any other pierce parts he found would be included and I would arrange and pay shipping. Unfortunately he is not a man of his word. He must have found more 33’ pierce parts because low and behold there listed on EBay. I called him to discuss the matter and he hung up on me. Just a buyer beware notice on dealing with this guy.

A short time ago I found an ad for a Packard that I used to own, and like with most cars, do have some regret parting with. The price was very attractive.

So I wrote to the seller not saying just yet my previous ownership.

I got several quality photos which I later identified as coming from a dealer’s website. The guy said the car was in Spokane, Washington at a storage facility and that he was trying to save a vintage furniture restoration business in Chicago and needed the cash. He wasn’t able to show me the car personally but said that if I sent him the money his shipper would send me the car and I would have a full seven days to change my mind and send the car back. Wow ! What a deal !

I led him on for several e-mails over many days. Asking questions and getting bullshit answers. He finally asked if I was ready to “seal the deal” and that I needed to first register on his shipping company website:

I then asked how long he owned the car and he said something like five years. I asked ” Did you drive it much?” He said he took it on several tours and really loved the car.

I said “Wow, that’s great. I’m sure you enjoyed it. But something doesn’t quite add up. You see, I owned the exact same car and sold it only three years ago to John Doe in Michigan, and the photos you got were from a dealer who sold the car last October. So you couldn’t possibly have owned it for five years. How do you explain that? “

    I never heard back.

His name, or he name he uses, is: Roger Cooper [email protected]

This generic website “usclassifieds4all” lists all sorts of cars, so perhaps Old Roger is trying his hand with a few dozen scams at once.
