There is a Bonhams Auction at the Tupelo Auto Museum on the 26/27 of April. Some very interesting cars going up. Sad to see the museum liquidating.

1917 PIERCE-ARROW MODEL 48-B-4 RUNABOUT
I would recommend looking at ALL the cars in that museum sale with an expert……….ALL of them. Not sure I would call that car a runabout……..
Amazing collection of early Harrah’s cars…
A quiz for the experts out there. What will the 1928 and 1917 auctioned Pierces
bring? I noticed that Bonhams wouldn’t venture a guess on the 1917.
I know the 1917 B-4 very well and in fact took several photos of the car when it was being restored back about 1979.The body is new and in fact I suggested several things in its design. If a member is interested in the car, they could contact me through the roster and I can tell them more.
1928 PIERCE-ARROW MODEL 81 RUMBLE SEAT CONVERTIBLE COUPE
Lot 434
US$ 24,640
1917 PIERCE-ARROW MODEL 48-B-4 RUNABOUT
Lot 436
US$ 35,840
Yikes! Anyone want to guess the values if the paint colors were not so 70’s? Orange is not my favorite. Karl
Karl, wrong lot numbers. The 1917 48-B-4, lot 435 went for $84,000. The 1928 Series 81 , lot 433, went for $44,800. These included fees.
That is a good price for the B-4 given the incorrect body but it is a nice chassis
and a correct body could be made as I believe castings are available. At the time the car was done new body castings were not available so the car was restored to be enjoyed.
David, thanks for the correction. I pulled that info from a post on the AACA site. The list did not have spaces, so the price was first, then the car. Those prices realized are a little better for both of them as sitting for a while cars. Karl
I had been following them to see what the sold for, just out of curiosity. The prices came from the auction company’s website. Dave
