    Hi folks,

I have similar “comb” on my oil cooler (’35 845) than shown here:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PIERCE-ARROW-V-12-Engine-Oil-Cooler-/110511479077?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19baff5925#ht_1057wt_941

The problem is that how to get the oil cooler 100% clean from the inside the “radiator” part so that no dirt will go into oil system?

    Any tips appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Mika

A good radiator shop will have an ultrasonic cleaner, like the small cleaners used by jewelry shops to clean rings, bracelets etc.

If you want to clean it yourself, hook up a pump to one side of the oil passageways,, and run a cleaning solvent, like mineral spirits through it for 24 hours or so.

An inexpensive boat sump pump with a few adapters has worked for me to clean items needing a pump to circulate solvents.. then just throw the pump away, most are plastic and don’t survive the solvents for very long.

Or, buy one of the parts cleaning tanks, which have a solvent pump with a hose, use the hose to plumb the solvent through the oil cooler.

Harbor freight sells the parts cleaning tanks very reasonably.

Thanks Greg, I will ask local radiator shop if they can clean it.

    Here’s some more information:
