Just this weekend I heard of a large classic auto show in the Chicago area, in Rosemont IL. This is a very large indoor exhibit hall, directly adjacent to Chicago’s O’Hare Field. I am tempted to show my car there but haven’t decided yet. I’ve copied their press release in case anyone nearby is interested in attending. Evidently the show organizer, Leftfield Media, has a similar event in Los Angeles This is the first year of this show in the Chicago area.

LEFTFIELD MEDIA TO EXPAND ITS CLASSIC AUTO SHOW BRAND WITH LAUNCH IN CHICAGOLAND MARKET

The Chicago Classic Auto Show to take place September 8-9, 2018 at the Stephens Convention Center

LeftField Media, producers of the acclaimed Los Angeles Classic Auto Show which attracts over 40,000 classic car enthusiasts to its annual gathering, will bring their successful show model to the Chicagoland marketplace, September 8-9, 2018 at the Stephens Convention Center.

The Chicago Classic Auto Show promises to be the ultimate car experience featuring an expansive showcase of over 600 classic cars, and 200 vendors representing auto detailing and restoration products and services, parts, tools and accessories, and memorabilia. Attendees will also be able to get up close and personal with their favorite celebrities, browse the expansive vendor marketplace and access cars rarely showcased from.

“Chicago was a very logical choice as the next city to roll-out our newest edition of The Classic Auto Show,” said Mike Carlucci, SVP. “The Chicagoland area and beyond boasts a large concentration of classic car owners and enthusiasts who support the hobby – and we are thrilled to enter the marketplace.” Carlucci continued, “This market is so strong, we anticipate over 25,000 attendees in our first year.”

The first confirmed celebrity coming to the September event will be fan favorite, Dave Kindig of Kindigit Designs, and host of “Bitchin’ Rides” on the Velocity channel. Dave will meet fans, sell official merchandise, and display a collection of his rides. “I am a huge fan of The Classic Auto Show, and cannot wait to come to Chicago to meet with fans, and share my passion with other classic car enthusiasts,” said Dave Kindig.

Another big part of the shows successful model is bringing together the local car club community that represents a cross-section of domestic and foreign marques, and segments including antiques, muscle, hot rods, Japanese, lowriders, exotic, and more. The show has already begun to receive car club interest and commitments, including the Illinois Jaguar Club, and the West of the Lake Region of the Cadillac & LaSalle Club.

Some of the other popular features found in the Los Angeles event will crossover to Chicago, including:

The popular Grand Boulevard, which will provide show-goers with a historical walk-through of automotive history, with a stunning display of the finest classic and historic vehicles from all eras.

A live stage which will include interviews and panels with talent, allowing attendees the opportunity to meet and hear from their favorite classic car celebrities.

Making a stop on its U.S. tour will be the show’s official Project Car – a ’67 Camaro built by owner of Flat 12 Gallery and Host of Top Automotive Podcast Skidmarks Show Jeff Allen.

Family Friendly KidZone will be featured for Chicago families and the shows youngest gear heads.

The Chicago Classic Auto Show will showcase a vendor marketplace filled with a variety of companies that serve the classic car community, including AkzoNobel, Hagerty, and Meguiar’s who have already pledged support for the inaugural event.

“Hagerty has been happy to be a sponsor of the Classic Auto Show LA. And, we look forward to connecting with all the car enthusiasts in the greater Chicago area as they bring their favorite vehicles and share their stories at the new event in Illinois,” said Nicolle Girard.

“AkzoNobel is very excited to sponsor The Chicago Classic Auto Show. This is an event for people who love cars, and the paint that makes them custom masterpieces,” said Keith Bell, US Sales Manager of Vehicle Refinishes. Custom builders can now select Modern Classikk by Dave Kindig; offering a color palette made up of classic shades that will stand the test of time. Colors that look just as good today as they will 20 years from now.”

Early support for the Chicago event is also coming in from its media partners, including Hemmings Motor News and duPont REGISTRY, which will ensure the show attracts the classic car community and collectors to the event.

Ken, find out what the promoters define as a ‘classic’ car. You might find that most if not all the cars in the Los Angeles show were ‘later classics’ from the ’50’s and ’60’s.

Not that having a fine Pierce Arrow like your’s in a crowd of ’57 Chevies would not be interesting! Your car would show some attendees that fine quality automobiles were made much earlier than the ’50’s and ’60’s.

The promoters announced today that the show is cancelled for this year, but they remain committed to bringing the show to the Chicago area for 2019. They state that anyone who bought tickets will receive a refund.
