I will be installing a new windshield glass soon and have a question. The picture shows one of the studs holding the windshield frame in with a spring, washer, castellated nut and cotter pin before I removed it many years ago. There are three studs along the bottom frame with this configuration. Presumably the springs provide some flexibility and limit the concentration of force when pulling the window in during installation and reduce the chance of cracking. The top frame on mine just had three 1/4″ hex cap screws without springs to pull it in. Does anyone know if this is correct or should the top frame have the same studs, springs, washers and nuts as the bottom?
Thanks for any clues.
