Along with his Pierce runs and record-setting, Jenkins also raced an Allis-Chalmers in 1935 for the record win. Predictably, he poured Pennzoil, and ran Firestones.

Why was it predictable that Ab Jenkins “poured Pennzoil and ran Firestones”?

Are those the PAMCC, original & factory-approved brands?

Or, were They Just, The BEST?

I just bought Jenkin’s (?) book, so I may soon discover those details.

BTW, AFTER taking the time to watch that Outstanding Firestone and Pennzoil advertisement, I Get It.

I can’t imagine the endurance runs in the Pierce 12 on the salt flats, particularly when Jenkins recovered from a tire blowout (no fault of the Firestone, but owing to some introduced coarse rock). What a loss of ride quality and stability it must have been in the Allis run! Look at those tires…

Unrelated to Pierce or Allis or Jenkins for that matter, the Nokian Tyre company decided to run a tractor on a frozen lake with winter tires for a Guinness World Record some years back. Seems the ad folks play a good game, then and now. (BTW, I can attest to the Nokian Hakkapeliittas for winter service. Like running on rails in snowy conditions.)
