Hi all,
I’m rebuilding the transmission on the ’36 1601 and one of the clutch release arm bearings is toast. I’ve come up with two options (in lieu of the unavailability of originals):
1. Needle roller bearings – shorter than the original so I’ll need two per side and the diameter is less than the 1-1/8″ housing, so I’ll have to machine a sleeve.
2. Oil-lite style iron-copper bearings. There is no rotational loading, but there is some tangential loading due to the way the lever action of the clutch arm operates.
Opinions?
Thanks in advance,
Chris
