<p style=”text-align: center;”>I am looking for a good water jacket cover for a’31 straight eight engine.</p>

Is anyone reproducing the water jacket cover? The one I have is beyond repair.

Check the Service Bulletin Library and PASB-2012-2 for more on the inner water jacket box dimensions.

As for the outer cover, I had some issues finding one, too. Be aware that if you try to make repairs to a “rough” cover that the heat may distort/warp it, so the bolt holes don’t align when reinstalling it on the block. I learned this the hard way by having a shop try to do some repairs for me. In short, don’t separate with such an unobtanium part if you’re able to do the work yourself. I think most older repairs were made by brazing, but this is all very dicey.

Would be nice to locate the press equipment for these and get another run of them made. I suspect there are many members who’d like another cover. See Olson’s Gaskets to get the cover/box sealed up when you’re at that point:

    Calvin,

You might check with John Cislak. I pretty sure at one point he had them.

These water jackets were reproduced years ago by PAS members.  Dave Murray had the dies to make them, but I believe they were then sold to Rex Miltenberger of Niles, Michigan.  He’s active in the Antique Studebaker Club.  The President Eights used the same plate.  Rex mentioned that these dies had problems and would require reworking to make them usable.  He had doubts that he would ever embark on a reproduction project.

Perhaps someone else could acquire them and supply both Pierce Arrow and Studebaker Presidents with these plates.  If you are using an original, sooner or later they will rust through, so there should be a demand for some.

    Tom
