    Hello,

Just curious if anyone has suggestions for getting some window shades redone.  I contacted Heritage and Marcus has decided to retire from doing shades.  If  you have any suggestions for materials(silk if possible) and or getting them done like Heritage was doing please let me know.

Not sure it matters but the car is a ’30 Model B.

    Take care,

I’ve redone window shades myself with some success.

The main “secret” is buying what is known as “no-fray” fabric material.  Most fabric shops (my local JoAnns has it) carry it.

It is best cut with a razor along a metal straight edge to get a perfect edging.  The other “secret” is, that when applying the material to the roller, it must be ABSOLUTELY dead-on straight and in-line, so that when it rolls up it doesn’t wander to one side or the other.

The other issue is usually the roller itself, and does it operate correctly.  There are springs and detents to worry oneself with, and they need to be in excellent condition so that roller works correctly.

Tassels, if so desired for pull downs, are available on the ETSY marketplace.

    Good luck.  dc

David,  Thank you for sharing the “secrets” I really appreciate it.  I looked at the tubes and one has a dent in it that may cause the shade to roll up incorrectly.  I will make sure that I try and get that fixed.

    Take care,

    Hello David,

The Rear Window Roller-Shades on my Series 80, 7-Passenger, DeLuxe Sedan, are SILK.

I had my Upholstery Guy make them for me, AFTER I obtained the fabric.

With Silk there are fewer problems than with other “similar” materials, in that they DO NOT Clump when they Wind-Up, and they Go Away perfectly.

They are Always Rolled-Up, except when a Judge wants to inspect them.

    Cheers,

    Peter

    Gents,

FYI, the Rear Seat Roller Shades on my 1925, Series 80, have a thin silk (?) cord running along side each of them that is pinned to the interior wall of the passenger seating area at top & bottom of the cords.

On the bottom of the roller shade there are the integrated wooden slats to which the pull-tassels are attached.

Additionally, each wooden slat has a small screw-eye, on each end through which the Roller Shade Cords run to keep them rolling Straight Up & Down, and keep the roller shade material from skewing off-center.

It is all an elegant, precise and somewhat complicated arrangement, but then again, it is a Pierce-Arrow.

I can post photos if interested.

Hello Peter, pictures would be very helpful to get them made properly.  Thank you in advance for your help.
