The floorboards in my 1937 1702 coupe are made of particle board (backed by a piece of sheet metal in the same shape) and are beginning to disintegrate. Is this the original material? Is there a source for this original particle board? Do owners replace with this material or some other type of wood such as plywood?

    Steve,

I made new floorboards for my 1703. The originals were particle board with sheetmetal covers. I used plywood but sandwiched thermal/sound insulation with new sheet metal on the underside.

    Bob,

I only have sheet metal on the bottom. Should there be sheet metal on the top also?

    Steve,

    Bottom only.

    Thank you.
