1905 Pierce Men's Racer Bicycle

Pierce bikes are pretty rare and are rewarding to restore.  Pierce bicycles are an easy project (relative to a car).  They are also a nice addition to your garage to perhaps augment your Pierce-Arrow.  They are also fun to put together and to enjoy while maybe you are waiting to get a Pierce-Arrow.  My brother and I bought this bike at Hershey many years ago.  I had bought a later single speed men’s Pierce bike and restored it and received the PAS Clara Follis Memorial Award.  This one is ready to restore.  It is a complete bike with a straight frame and fork, good wood wheels, straight handlebars and a seat.   It will obviously need new bearings, and some clean up.  In general, modern bike bearings work just fine in the axles, crank, and fork, and are readily available.

Included along with the bike is:

  • Wheelsmith Tensionometer spoke tension gauge, New-In-The-Box
  • Extra set of correct pedals with toe clips (I bought these on ebay years ago for $200)
  • 2 Pierce script head badges (these are tough to find and are worth $100 each!)
  • Nice Bike Stand for display

Of course, a modern bike shop can be of assistance in installing wheel spokes and bearings if you wanted to outsource some of the work.
