While your at it, remove the lifter caps (the adjustable part that contacts the valve stem) and have them ground flat. Quite often they are cupped from the constant pounding and you can’t get a true lash adjustment.
My cold settings are .006 for intakes and .008 for exhausts. You can err on the wide side but dont’ let them go under the setting.
