1934 open car windshield wiper mechanism

Hi

My ’34 convertible coupe had the original wiper motor actuator mechanism removed, and I need to know the correct mechanism.  There originally was a pull knob on the dash to the left of the instrument cluster with a “W” on it.  That’s all I know.  What goes between that knob and the wiper motor push-pull valve levers is a mystery.  Was it a cable like the spark advance, or a bell crank mechanism or something completely different?  Any help would be appreciated, especially photos.  This is a one-year only design.
