Just before Hershey the rumor mill was chattering about a 37 Pierce coupe barn / garage find. A local friend sent me a photo of it today. I am not sure but was told it was a V-12. No 1702 coupes are in the list of surviving cars so this is another “new” Pierce for the club. It’s amazing a car like this could have been kept secret all of these years. I have a photo but don’t want to post it incase the new owner joins the club and wants to be the first to post photos of his new treasure. It looks like a VERY GOOD original car. From it’s condition I would guess it is from out west. I will try to contact the owner and get him to join the PAS. Interestingly, they thought it was a 36, but when he got it home he was able to identify it as a 37. They STILL are out there. Ed

Wow, would love to see the pics, see if he’ll let you post them!

It’s a big, big country, and there are still cars tucked away waiting to be found.

And, Ed, you’re very good at finding them…..

Another find….. not a barn this time, just the woods. From the HAMB.

I could use the back inside window molding if anyone buys the car. :-) Richard.

    David,

Your wife must be extraordinarily strong to turn over that

car. I don’t think She wants you to have it. You may be next

    to get over turned.

    Hi All,

I am the proud new owner of the 1702 coupe that started this thread. I got the car about two weeks ago and sent my membership application last week. I got a packet of material in the mail last night and this is the first time I have logged onto the website. I have uploaded some photos of the car as I found it. The owner had passed away more than 2 decades ago and the family just recently decided to sell the car. Although I have and have had other classics, this is my first Pierce-Arrow. I used to drive Leonard Urlik’s 1933 1247 LeBaron convertible sedan regularly and had been on the lookout for a Pierce-Arrow for many years because of that experience. The car is in mostly original but shabby condition. It is mostly complete but is missing the correct clock, all hubcaps, the rumble seat cushions, the passenger side locking door handle and probably other small items that I am not yet aware of. There is a large void in the package tray and I have no idea what should be there. The glass of the instrument cluster and speedometer are broken. I have not tried to start it yet but plan to check out the crud in the pan and other housekeeping before attempting to do so very soon. Please feel free to comment or contact me. I am very happy to be a member.
