    Bill,

    The 7:00 x 17 tire would be correct for your car. The 7:50’s are usually used on the larger cars–V-12’s.

    But if your focus is touring vs. point judging, the larger 7.50’s will give a taller net drive ratio. The engine has the power to handle it. My 1936 1601 has 7.50’s and it has no problem pulling 3rd gear OVERDRIVE except in mountains…and it has an earlier low compression head! But the larger size won’t fit sidemount covers.
