Thanks for sending the “born again” pictures. They’re very inspiring

and give us hope that the spirit of Buffalo can happen in our shops

    and garages, too!

“SPEED UP TO A GLACIAL CRAWL” That is awesome because it is so true. I had a great plan, with a great time frame for each piece that was farmed out. Geeeeeee, surprise. No one else s time frame matched their claim. Even those who said 1 year. lololo I should have known.

The whire wheels should be here by the end of Oct. They were to be done first of August. lolol Lets hope they appear. I’m excited to see the rebuilt chrome beauties.

The instruments have no end date yet. Was told 1 year. That was July of 15. “art work is done. We need to work on the instruments now”

Radio: I think this was forgotten on the shelf for a year. I called and all i heard was all the reasons why it was tougher then normal. “i can still do it but…..” lolo Ill keep you updated on this piece.

Chrome: This is actually not too bad but slow never the less. The quality is awesome. However he moves very slowly. We are just about done with all the large pieces. Too come are the tiny pieces. Inventorying them is almost tougher than chroming them. You have to mark each piece and where the heck it goes. If you lose that tagging. YOU are messed up!

Im sure there are many of you that are smiling, “i remember that”. Any good resto funny/horror stories people want to share???

Come on. you among-st friends. Lets hear about them.

I don’t know, I posted it, showing appreciation for the progress and saying that a lot of us had been there, off to a fast start on a restoration that soon speeds up to a glacial crawl….it’s the nature of the hobby, and as you so accurately mention, no one’s schedule matches yours. I once had an engine in a machine shop for 7 years…the guy owed me a favor and was doing the work for free, so my project was ALWAYS on the back burner, but still….

Restoration horror stories? Well, I once had a fellow paint a ’34 Pierce sedan, he said he was in a bind and I foolishly paid him the full price when he was about 90% done…went to pick up car, not only not finished, but he’d skipped town and taken that nice little “Pierce” emblem off my dash as a souvenir….unless you’re great friends with the fellow doing the work, always wait until completion and delivery to let go of the last dollars, it’s the only leverage you have…

I totally agree with you. My guy works on $2500 increments. He works that much, then I pay him. It has worked well. The mechanic bills me monthly for hours worked. Neither bill me for what is about to happen.
