We are in several car clubs. We attended the Christmas banquet of the local Cadillac LaSalle Club which is the largest and most active Cadillac club in the world. We have several Cadillacs in our collection and our 1920 Cadillac was the overwhelmingly voted the “People’s Choice” in 2016.
I beforehand asked the Peach State Cadillac LaSalle club president would he like me to bring our recent 1941 Cadillac or our also recent acquisition, our 1916 Pierce Arrow 48B Touring Car.
He agreed that it would be fine to bring the Pierce as most of our members have never seen a Pierce.
We brought our 1916 Pierce Arrow 48B and parked among the Cadillacs for viewing by the Club members where they voted on the coveted “People’s Choice”
During the banquet, the President of the Cadillac club asked the members to please vote on the “Peoples’ Choice”, but with the caveat that they “should only vote on cars that were Cadillacs, and NOT the Pierce Arrow!”
I guess it would have been embarrassing that a Pierce Arrow could have won “Peoples’ Choice” in the “largest, most active, Cadillac LaSalle Club in the World?” But he would not take that chance. Very large grin.
(We got a little mud on our tires as the snow melted in Georgia and the ground had turned to mud and then refroze our hose so we could not wash down the tires)
A Wolf in Sheep’s clothing. Ha, ha.
The NorCal Region of the Cadillac and LaSalle Club puts on an annual meet in Cupertino, CA (near San Jose) to which they invite other clubs (usually about 100 cars total, about 70% CLC). This year my 1930 Pierce-Arrow roadster was voted People’s Choice, pictured here with my good friend and former colleague of many years ago Ford L., who sadly can no longer drive due to vision problems.
(Looks like I’ll have to resize, and can’t find a way to delete the full-size I attached)
Resized attached, I hope. Note the new Cadillac Ute in the background.
That’s a dandy car George, is that Mr Hewlett-Packard’s car next to yours? ha
Great car! You have my people’s choice award also!
John Woz, that is indeed the 1934 840A conv coupe, known in some circles as “Blaze Starr the Fire Chief’s Car” (David Coco and Merlin will understand the reference) owned by Bob Jacobsen, my dear friend of 50 years, my Evil Twin (we’re often mistaken for one another), and Director-for-Life of NorCal Region.
Indeed, a reference that involves Earl “keep your boots on for traction” Long.
I have a picture of what I believe is that ’34 in my files, when it was for sale in the 1980’s, and back when you had to ask for pictures in the mail. I almost bought it, but we all know what almost means…
George, you and your twin are beacons of this operation-thank you both for the heady work you do for this club.
Happy Holidays to you and yours!
