I would like to have something to stick on my car trailer that indicates I’m sort of interested in Pierce Arrows.

My thought is to duplicate, more or less, the attached pennant that’s in my memorabilia collection, although more red since this is faded. Finished “sticker” would be about two feet long and eleven inches high, 2-1/4 inch letters, and reproduced on the vinyl film that’s used to “wrap” cars these days. Adhesive backed. Fellow said it will last about 6 to 8 years in the sunlight.

Only thing I’d change, I don’t like the fletch arrangement on the back of the arrow, instead would be three on each side leaning opposite direction (back away from point).

If I do 25 of them, cost is about $20 each, so with postage to you let’s say $25 each.

Anyone out there interested in one or more? Cost goes down as numbers go up. To do just one is $100, 25 is about $500, and so forth….

    Thanks David C.

Wow, as I posted this had a strange deja vu …. have I asked this question before? Strange getting old, although glad I am…

Hi David, I thought about putting a ‘wrap’ on my Kenworth ‘motorhome’, since the white box had a logo that left a ‘ghost’ on the paint..

But, I have concerns about ‘advertising’ anything about what is in my truck or trailer. With the number of stolen trucks with trailers. or trailers with cars in them at host hotels for car meets, I’m thinking of leaving my truck box and trailers pure generic.

I did hear of a guy who put a warning on his trailer that it contained trained attack ‘Pit Bull and Doberman’ dogs, thinking it would give a potential thief pause. But it backfired, he got assaulted by ‘SPCA hot-heads’ and even had to explain the false warning to a police officer.. So he removed the false warning..

I wonder, is there anywhere to buy a capacitor about the size of a 5-gallon pail? I’d leave it charged and attached to the doors to the box on he ‘motorhome’. The potential thief would get his ‘battery charged’ if he touched the handle. I’d probably get sued, or forget about it, and touch the handle myself. :-)

Well, good point….guess it would be cheaper to go buy a radioactive symbol and put it on the trailer, that might keep people away!

    #404635

well, shucks, symbol didn’t post correctly…

    David,

Have you thought of making felt penants just like the original one. It would look great on my shop wall….

    #404637

Sure, that’s a possibility. Whoever made this one did so in a very nice manner, the stitching is very fine (very many stitches to the inch)…it’s a neat piece…

    David,

    I would be interested.

All right, so the interest is in the cloth pennants? The only problem I see is that, to do it the same way as my original, would be time consuming. Let me work on the cloth ones, sounds like the plastic sticker is not the best idea.

David, I have a friend near me that can print on the ‘wrap’ material. She just needs a digital image to work from.

So, if you can ‘photoshop’ the tail-feathers on the pennant to point the right direction, then email me the digital file for the image, I can see if she can print out a few self-stick banners for those interested.

I might see how much sheet magnets cost, and use the ‘wrap’ material applied to sheet magnets to have a removable banner for when the motorhome is at Gilmore events.

I’d be interested in one of the larger ones, but would also be interested in a bumper sticker sized one for my daily driver. As for security, I just post up old targets from my last firearms qualification. Quite effective living in the city.

    Greg,

I almost got thrown out of high school for doing a bit of shock therapy. Someone was stealing parts (tubes, resistors, etc.) from my room in electronics class (third years got their own rooms, more like closets). Not knowing who it was, I wired the high voltage of an RCA color TV to the metal door knob, and the ground to a metal door mat, and waited for the perp to strike. Didn’t take long, the next day I came into class to find several desks broken, and my electronics teacher waiting to escort me to the principal’s office. I found out it was the janitor that stole the stuff. I explained my side of the story, and got off with a warning to not fry anyone again. The janitor recovered from a few bumps and bruises, and never touched my room again.

By the way, I do have several 600mfd electrolytic capacitors laying around if you want to scare the wits out of someone. They are used on boat lift motors. Makes a beautiful blue spark. They stay charged for quite a while. Be happy to charge one and mail it to you…

    David,

If you are doing the fabric pendant, add me in for a few. What would be nice is a porcelain type sign with the Pierce Logo, or says “Pierce authorized dealer””. I am sure my wife would love one for Mother’s Day!”

There was a nice faux Pierce Service sign done a few years back, I have one stashed away, they come up on Ebay every now and then..and as I was typing this, Googled same, and here’s what came up, they’re still available?

Their site doesn’t seem to show any prices, even if you “add to cart””….”

    #404648

George, that was the reason for my question mark on the statement! I might call them tomorrow and see what the deal is, whether they’re still available…all fun stuff….

I dealt with this company in 2011 for the annual meet fundraiser. First batch was good, the second batch quality was not as good. I was told the screen was getting old. I decided not to order any more after the second batch. The screen is now 6 years older folks!

I had a local college graphic art student make a Pierce arrow “vector” file. What this allows you to do is take the file to a sign maker to get a vinyl sticker made any size you want. Attached are two pictures of the sticker. Larger one is on my trailer, and the other on my tow vehicle back window.

My cost was insignificant… If you think you want to have a sticker made, I would gladly send you the “vector” file. just email me, and I will send it.
