beware of scammer on eBay that is selling an hood archer for $47.00 he is from china and has no feedback…Ebay is working on his removal….Ed
Ed,
I talked to eBay about the guy this morning. They informed me that my purchase is
guaranteed and if I don’t receive the Hood Ornament they will refund me my money.
I now know it is a scam based on I bought the item Saturday night and the same item showed up again Sunday night.
Ken
Here is a link to the actual Archer Hood Ornament.
You will need to scroll down the page.
Ken, i also talked with Ebay and they said he is a scammer and will also refund my money…..Ed
Hi Ed, Hi Ken.
You didn’t look closely at the photos posted on the bay auction.
This mascot is clearly a fake.
Up until 1934 mascots have a single centered threaded stud or threaded boss to receive a bolt.
This is how a mascot is fastened to a radiator cap. This one on eBay has a flat or flush base, and several
holes drilled in it, none in the center..
Also, the base is not round on the outside perimeter, A correct cap has a round base.
Ebay is good about getting your money back. I’ve had a few refunds from their buyer protection plan.
Greg Long
Hello Greg and Ed,
Greg thank you for the history lesson.
Ed, I was told by eBay to wait and see if it shows up when it at the end of the expected delivery date
Just a word of caution about eBay.
I purchased a fuel pressure gauge set from a vendor and got emails saying the product was shipped and ultimately delivered.
Only problem was that I never received anything, at all.
Upon contacting eBay they contacted the seller who told eBay that they had confirmation it was delivered.
Ebay promptly closed my case and said there was nothing they could do for me since the vendor said it had been delivered.
I wanted to file a claim with the shipper but eBay wouldn’t even compel the vendor to give me any shipping account information nor would they help me to get the vendor to file a claim on my behalf.
The item was purchased through a regular business not a private party so they immediately sided with the business even though I have zero negative feedback after over a decade of purchases on eBay.
That was about a year ago and I have not purchased anything since through eBay.
Pay with a credit card and contest it with the issuer if something goes sideways. They tend to side with the consumer, as I found out as a vendor.
I quit taking AX because they always sided with the cardholder even if they said that they thought the bill was too high and only wanted to pay half. Gives you a potential backup if ebay bails.
I always pay with a credit card just for that very reason. I am hopeful that eBay does take care of the seller in this situation.
When I began buying on e-bait, I was the successful bidder on a laptop. When it never arrived after several weeks and I couldn’t get a response from the vendor, I contacted my credit card company and got my money back. E-bait then barred me from bidding, claiming I should not have contacted my credit card company taking the position I had to use e-bait’s procedure. Fortunately, I had another e-mail address and was able to open another account.
