I had a call from a local historian in Pawhuska, OK. In the 1920’s this Osage County town was the hub of the Oil Boom and had a large number of oil millionaires including many Osage Indians.

She said many Pierce-Arrows were in the area and supposedly there was a dealer in the town, but she has been unable to verify that. She asks for help from any PAS members who might have dealer info to prove or disprove the tales.

    Any assistance appreciated.

Ron Blisset had photos of Indians in Pierce Arrow cars, he said they ordered them without back seats so they could haul their stuff.

According to my 1929 list of Pierce Arrow dealers, in Oklahoma at the time was:

Tulsa- Wilson Motor Co. 230 E. 15th Street

    Okmulgee- Earles Wright Motor Co.

    Holdenville- S.E. WEst

    Miami- Schorers Motor Co.

    Muskogee – R.P. White

That’s it for Oklahoma in 1929….

That dealer information is straight from an original 1929 factory document, by the way, so it’s not conjecture….

I wager that durning the BOOM, the nearest Pierce-Arrow dealer was happy to DELIVER lots of motor vehicles, probably by train when multiples were ordered!

Also, that durning the BUST, that same dealer was happy to buy them back for 5-cents on the dollar.
