I have just finished re-wiring my 1937 1702 coupe. The loom from Y n Z was pretty complete and I had no trouble installing it. However, there is no loom available nor can I find a wiring diagram for the dome light. Besides the wires running from the door switches and a hand switch (which I am missing) that goes just behind the passenger door a little bit higher than the back of the seat, there is a ground wire that runs behind the seat to the floor of the rumble seat area where it appears to attach to the frame through a carriage bolt in the floor near the golf bag door (why did it go back here instead of just attaching to the body?). Also, I don’t see where the wire that goes through the switches to the dome light actually connects to the 6 volt input. The wiring diagram shows a wire labeled “TO BODY LIGHTS” coming off of the “Thermostatic Relay”. Does anyone have an actual wiring diagram for this? Any help will be appreciated.
The ground wire to the carriage bolt, at the frame, and at the back of the body is common. There’s no good ground through the body itself. The positive wire should run up the side of the body behind the door, through the switch and then to the light. There may also be a door swithch, a plunger type, which activates the dome light. The ground is critical.
David,
I have the door switch but am missing the hand switch. DO you know what it looks like?
Steve,
Following is an image of the “hand switch” that controls the interior light in my 1936 1602 Coupe. There are no lights in the rumble seat or trunk area of my coupe.
