How did the PA Society know who the first owner of my Pierce was? I wonder what other info of my car can be found? That would be very informative to me.

    Hello David,

Can you post a picture of your Series 81? I would like to see the differences between

your Series 81 and my Series 80 5 Passenger Sedan Deluxe. Mine is a 1925.

Here is a Picture of mine.

    Thank you,

    Ken

Hi David, unfortunately most if not all sales records from Pierce Arrow were sold for scrap paper during the Bankruptcy. I think there were some records of some sort saved, and donated to Detroit’s public library? or maybe it’s University of Michigan’s library? I don’t remember..

So, the only way to discover your car’s history.. is,, well, to trace it’s history.. Contact the previous owner, learn what you can about the owner before that, wash, rinse, repeat.. Sometimes it is easy, sometimes it’s impossible.

The info the Pierce Arrow Society is only the info if your car was registered with the PAS.. and the PAS started in 1957, so that is somewhat limited help.. but, it can be interesting .

    Differences:

    Slightly rounded radiator top surfaces.

Taller radiator shell. with ‘coat of arms’ badge on radiator shell.

smaller diameter headlight rims and lenses, rims have a ‘visor’.

parking lights on a cross bar.

molded in visor over windshield, its part of the roof’s metal structure.

If wood spoke wheels, the spokes are thicker, and are 20″ diameter,

the fenders are ‘swept’, and have room for side mount spares.

no ‘cascade’ of ribs or ridges on the fenders, the fenders are smooth compound curves.

    The engine:

Stromberg carb, an O-3, with a ‘tipped’ mushroom cap air inlet ‘umbrella’,

    Stromberg carb has a choke,

Stromberg carb does not have an adjustable main jet [rich-lean lever] from inside the car.

Engine still retains the Primer for starting.. one of Pierce’s best features.

Aluminium cylinder head, with slightly higher compression.

    larger crankshaft bearing diameters,

    Aluminum connecting rods [yes, really]

    Aluminum pistons..

    interior:

The most beautiful instrument panel ever..

The pattern on the door and window handles is more of an Acanthis Leaf design, not sure if this is the correct name.

Some windshield wipers are the ‘VisionAll’ horizontal sweep wipers,, really neat, but hard to keep working.

That’s the best I can come up with off the top of my head/memory..

    David,

Did you previously post the serial number of your car / engine?

Did I investigate its history through the Bernie Weis listing?

If I did not investigate, post the S/N, or better, send me an email, and next week I will investigate prior owners.

    Ken,

That is one beautiful Series 80, though your front bumper seems to be frowning. :-(

    Lovely motorcar.

Is the car all black, or is it a very dark blue or dark green over black?

    Very elegant.

BTW, I believe that I still have one or two nickel plated crank snout covers, that is if I didn’t already sell one to you.

    Peter,

The color is more like Midnight Blue. The color in the new Ralph Lauren commercial

    Polo Blue looks like it.

Hopefully you will see the contrast in this Picture.

    Peter,

By the way I have adjusted the bumper and it is smiling now.

Black on the Fenders. This is the first car that I have bought that my

wife really likes. She even climbed in behind the wheel yesterday and

    started it.

It is a very elegant car.

Good to hear that your wife has taken a liking to the car.

It’s always so much easier when your other half shares the same passion for Pierce Arrows as you do.

Then again, Pierce Arrows tend to bring out something special in everyone. :)

    Craig,

I agree with you on the thought they bring something special out of people.

I will be in Hemet at Christmas time. I would enjoy talking to you if you are going to be around Elsinore.

Here’s a photo of my Pierce model 81 5 passenger sedan. Finally figured out how to send it.

    #403576

Beautiful, both!! That’s a very handsome car, and a lovely lady….

    David & David,

Let’s have a David convention in St. Louis June 6 to 10, 2017 so we can get a better look at this beautiful car together. Maybe my old friend David C. can help me explain that ‘Stevens’ is the correct spelling…it’s always faster!

Hope to see you both there!

    Dave Stevens

    #403585

That sounds like a great idea. BTW, Stevens for you, Stephens for me. Merry Christmas. See you in June.

    #403593

    David and David,

Now we you are talking. Hope we can see the both of you there.

    Ken
