Hi to all…a question was emailed to me about the “Great Arrow August Zimmerman” belt buckle.
As much as we’d like for these to be from the Zimmerman era (late 1890 and early 19-oughts), they aren’t, they were made in the 1960’s or ’70’s by Lewis Buckle Company. Attached is a link to one for sale for $30 if anyone wants one. The Zimmerman buckle is the most common, but there are other names that appear.
Zimmerman was an amazing bicycle racer who had a short, but lucrative, career. His speed was beyond anyone else at the time, some combination of leg strength and physical attributes.
