Mike and I were driving on CA 52 E when we saw this Pierce-Arrow being towed; it was getting ready to get on to 805N. I’m sure most of you can identify the Pierce. We really enjoyed seeing your car! The photo turned out pretty good since it was taken with an old cell phone in a car traveling 65 mph as we passed the Pierce. I don’t think the driver saw me wave as we passed him. Hope to see all of you in Buffalo. Mike & Pat

It’s a bit difficult to see much detail from the photo, the details must have been swept away by the 65mph wind going past the camera’s lens !

It is a Series 80, 4-passenger touring, I think the front bumper is the small diameter one that was used in 1925, but the bumpers can be interchanged, and it might not be a totally valid clue. I’d need to see the back of the car and the frame-cover over the gas tank to see if it’s a 1925, or a ’26/’27.

The Buffalo wire wheels look nice on the car.

This is Jim and Donna Follis’s car. Jim’s done a fabulous job on the restoration.

    Happy Motoring,

Yes it is my car I was taking it to interview an upholsterer

in Santee did not leave it but will probably take it back after making the wood that goes on the rear for the top to fasten to. The serial number Identifies the car as 1926 but the frame is 1925 with 3 holes in the rear of the frame left for gas guage center for valve and right for filling.

I hope to take the car next year to Texas meet.

I drove it down the driveway for the first time through all the gears. will register after upholstery is done. Then the real testing begins. I am very much looking forward to that.

    See you in Buffalo

Those wheels look good on MY CAR although you had your eye on them…. Sorry,… a little

I am waiting for coker tire to tell me if they will make the 5th lock ring I need (they have one of the 4 that I have as a sample) The 22″ is hard to find.”

Well done Jim!! Your car looks a treat!! An aside—Who besides Goodrich now makes 22″ tires?

Lester used to but I believe have ceased making them.”

Nice looking car…and I get a kick out of you going to “interview an upholsterer”….I retired from an engineering career and mentioned to a few people that I’d do some trim work (I actually did it professionally at a well known restoration shop for two years), and I’ve been “interviewed” a number of times now…but the best interview is me showing them my work!…and been busy for almost three years with projects that just seem to keep coming…it’s getting harder to find a trimmer to do correct work on early cars…am sure yours will turn out great!

Hi Jim, well you had the ‘inside track’ on those wheels.. pretty hard to compete for them. :-)

Post a photo of the side or end view of the lock ring, i’m curious if the lock ring is the same as the one used on the Budd/Michelin disc wheels.

Jak, I don’t know of any other 22″ tires available, but my preference is the BF Goodrich anyway, they are good tires.

Here is the only close up I have of the lock ring

Thank you Greg for the info on 22″ tires
