Outside Door Handles

I have been searching for a complete set of handles for my 28 Series 81 5 passenger sedan for years. Recently I was fortunate to find a number of handles in excellent condition on Ebay but unfortunately the square drive spindles are too short to engage the latch mechanism in my sedan. I assume the handles I have are for an open car which would have a thinner door structure due to the lack of roll-up windows. The exposed square spindle on the handles I have is 1 7/8″ long, the length I need is 2 3/4″. I would be willing to trade what I have for similar condition sedan handles, I would rather do that than modify them if possible. Please help me finish my car if you can. I think the same handles were also used on the Model 36 that year, see photo.
