Hello PAS Members,
This is an updated status of the recent problems with the PAS website Message Board.
As you know, beginning last May we began experiencing occasional, unexplained, losses of Message Board replies. To date we have had 11 incidents of this issue. Fortunately, we were able to manually recover most of the connections on lost replies.
George Crane (Committee Member), Peter Gariepy (Website Support) and the plugin developer have been working to identify the source, however, until recently all efforts have come up empty. On Wednesday (9/30), George found some suspicious code which he investigated and determined this code most likely was the cause of our problems, and it has been removed. The Committee is sending out this as a tentative announcement that the bug may be fixed.
Appropriate testing has yet to be performed so we feel it is premature to say that we have solved the problem, but we are cautiously optimistic. It is our hope that we will not encounter any additional problems, but since this occurred randomly and infrequently, we should give it a 30-day test period before declaring success.
The Website Committee would like to send our heartfelt “Thank You” to George Crane for tirelessly and doggedly working to find and eliminate the bad code.
Cheers of thanks go out to George for his hard work, Thank You George!!
The Website Committee
Thanks, Jane, for the update.
Thanks, George, for spending the time to investigate and, hopefully, fix. Your time is appreciated.
I hope that members here are following the AACA forums. After you register, if you’re not already, the easiest way to read is click “new posts” in upper right hand corner. Interesting reading.
