Does anyone know the over all length of the steel running board for the 147″ long wheelbase 1933-38 cars?
I understand 139″ wheelbase car has a 60″ board, 144″ wheelbase car has a 64″ board.
Any help on this is much appreciated!
John
John, Bob Sands would know……and he has a car that’s 147 if I remember right. Ed
My 1703 has a 73-1/2″ running board.”
John,
The ’33’s are different than the ’34 and ’35 Models, and they all are different (completely) from the ’36 through ’38 Models. That being said, I believe they would all have different lengths, for each 147″ wheelbase cars.
I could be wrong?
I have a set (bad shape), in the attic, from a 1934-147″ car.
Let me know what you need.
Bob
John,
I’ll measure my 1248 tomorrow, and reply.
Wendell
Gents, thanks for the responses, they are most helpful. Bob S., if I could get the overall length of the board that would be great-if its too hard to get at it in the attic that’s ok, I’ll see what Wendell comes back with.
Bob K & Wendell, does the rubber mat on the board for that car cover the entire 73-1/2″ length?
I’m looking to understand the greatest length the rubber mat is for these long wheelbase car.
Again-thanks all-John”
John,
Yes, the rubber runs the full length of the board. What is it that you are trying to do?
Bob, we are working on a project to offer replacement rubber mats. The maximum length we can achieve from the mold available is 66″ and that will work fine for 139″ and 144″ cars. From the good info you’re providing, it appears a splice of two mats would be required to cover the 147″ car.
As this project rolls out, I will be able to offer more information.
Thanks for the help on this-John
The running board on my ’34 1248 is 67″. It goes from fender to fender.”
Thank you Wendell-much appreciated!
John
John,
1248A running board is (like Wendell said) 67″
1933, 836, is 56″
1936-’37 &38:
139 wb–64 1/2″
144 wb–70 1/2″
I don’t have a measurement fo the 147″ wb-later Models; but, like Bob K’s Model 1703 is 73 1/2.
I believe Harry Bury did this project 20 or 25 years ago. The 1934 & ’35 Models are a son-of-gun to install correctly.
Good Luck with this project.
Bob
Bob, thank you for the thorough data-much appreciated.
Looking forward to seeing you in RI!
Best-John
