A volunteer at Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Darwin Martin House” in Buffalo, NY contacted me looking for information as copied below. If you can help please contact me by reply or directly and I’ll forward it.

    Thanks, Dave Stevens

Mr. Darwin Martin owned three Pierce Arrows (1916, 1925, 1929) and I am wondering if it is possible to determine whether any of these vehicles still exists. Is there a directory of original owners vs auto serial numbers and location of the original auto?

Also, can you tell me the height of the 1929 Model 143 Pierce Arrow… Mr. Wright is known for low ceilings and the port cochere at the Martin’s summer house (Graycliff) is very low… I’m wondering if their auto could have passed through.

I researched this about 25 years ago and posted an article in the Arrow. I have sent you the matrix with details found. The University of Buffalo had only the early records which did include S/N for some cars but not the Pierce-Arrows. The later records went somewhere else and I could never learn where. Perhaps the later records have surfaced. Please put the volunteer in touch with me.

Thanks for the all the info on Martin’s cars Paul. We’ll put you in touch.

NOW, can someone with a 1929 143 Limo advise the height of top for these folks?

My ’29 143 ED Limo is about 75 inches at its tallest point.

I was generous just eyeballing the tape measure so it could be just a tad shorter.
