My 1930 Model B 5 passenger sedan evidently has a reproduction serial number plate with a serial number that does not tie to the roster or even tie to a 1930 car.  The body number and the engine number do tie to the roster.  The car was thoroughly restored in the early 1980’s; floorboards were painted black and the interior was fully redone.  I looked on the seat cushions, front and back as I’ve read that was one place to look, but again, everything was pretty thoroughly restored.  Nothing obvious on the firewall.

I have a CCCA letter dated 1982 addressed to Edwin Oberhaus in Ohio so that provides some provenance: the Oberhaus collection apparently sold the car to the Kughns and the 2015 auction announcement (when the Kughns sold) has the wrong serial number.

Are there other places to look for the serial number?
