Steering wheel removal model 81

Hello there, I have a model 81 seven passenger limo and I am in the process of removing the steering box to send it out to get rebuilt and I could use some advice on how to get the steering wheel off of the box and if anybody has a good suggestion for someone to rebuild Thanks in advance

Did You FIRST Remove The Steering Wheel Itself from the Top of the Steering Wheel Shaft?

I believe that it simply unscrews.

IF SO, did you then ATTEMPT to remove the “tube” that I believe surrounds the steering wheel shaft?

If you did Both of Those Things, can you get a good look at the Base of the Shaft, and how it is connected to the Steering Box?

Please advise, as you wish.
