While not specifically related to Pierce Arrow, I recently discovered a book collecting all of the late Tad Burness Auto Album auto cartoons from 1920 through 1990. For years Burness drew a cartoon feature about cars, called Auto Album, giving details about a selected car. It’s a 1366 page book, and for sale at a clearance book seller called Daedelus Books (800/395-2665) for $19.95. I have no personal connection with the seller or publisher, but I thought it’s a nice book to thumb through during these winter months.
Thanks Ken,
Here’s the book detail / link:
“My Dad Had That Car: A Nostalgic Look at the American Automobile, 1920–1990 From the 1970s, when he began publishing his encyclopedic car spotter’s guides, Tad Burness’s ongoing labor of love informed and excited generations of car fans in the years before the Internet made it easy to identify a particular car. His scrapbook-style guides collected thousands of factory and car brochure photos, covering each American make, model, and year (from the Auburn Beauty-Six of 1919 to the all-new Lincoln Town Car of 1990) with detail views of custom trim options, special editions, and interiors, all annotated with Burness’s hand-lettered and informative notes, often pointing out subtle changes for a new model year. In a fitting tribute to the late enthusiast, this massive catalogue is in essence four books in one, covering the model years 1920–39, 1940–65, 1966–80, and 1981–90, with new introductions by automotive journalist Matt Stone.”
