If you’re standing behind my car facing it, my brake light is on the left, the center light is the red running light, and the reverse light is on the right. Isn’t the 3 lights in reverse configuration, or did they sometimes come that way from the factory?
I would also like to know which order they came in. Mine is the reverse of yours with the Backup Light on the left and the Brake Light on the right.
Thank you,
Ken
Looking at the car from the rear, the clear lens for the back-up light is on the left or outer side, the center red lens is the tail light and the inner lens with the “S”” is for the stop light.”
Ken & David,
Paul is correct, see my post on David’s other info request.
Peter
Peter,
Then mine is in the correct order. I don’t have an S on mine.
Thank you Paul and Peter.
Ken
Ken,
I will look around and see if I have a spare “S” lens.
The Reverse Lens is worth $1,000,000.00, but the “S” is more common.
I ill check on it this weekend.
Peter
Ken, the “S”” is one inside of the lens and you won’t see it unless someone is stepping on the brake.”
George and Peter,
Thank you for the information. I had to take the Brake Lens off because the
contact on the bulb was not hitting and did not see the “S”. We had to add
some solder to the bulb to make the contact work. I will take a
closer look to see if there is one now that you have told me about it.
You guys are the best.
Sincerely,
Ken
Here are two ‘S’ lenses. The right one is turned around so you can see
the inside and the raised ‘S’. And the black-painted background around
the ‘S’
Greg Long
Greg,
Thank you for the Pictures. I had no idea that they were to have an
“S”” until this message board started.
Ken”
My ’26 has four lights, the top one does not have a light bulb in it. I’ve never seen a reflector like this before, when a light shines into it the refection is unique. Looks like it has been on the car for a long time.
Jim,
Very Interesting!
Does your Middle Can have an Opening / Slot / Clear Lens on the Bottom to illuminate the license plate, or is that opening on the Top to illuminate your Reflector?
Perhaps, both?
If on top only then someone rotated the can 180-degrees sometime in the past.
If both, then that someone altered the can to accommodate the reflector.
I am sure that we all would like to see photos of this arrangement from different angles.
Peter
Peter. here are a few pictures. From the looks of it I would say it was a period accessory made for the Pierce, it fits well. The middle light only aims towards the plate.
Another angle.
I noticed the 4th barrel does not have the 2 ribs on the body that the originals have.
The nuts holding the two flat stock pieces are square so maybe they are older and not modern hex nuts.
Would be very interesting to find out the origins of this extra tail light piece.
