I’m finishing a car that I’ve been working on, 1934 840 sedan. It came with metal pieces that finish the top edges.
The metal piece is shaped like Kilroy’s nose, with a hole every half inch, and a shade over a half inch wide. After installation, a 3/16 piece of rubber (or metal rod??) goes into the middle to finish off and hide the attaching tacks.
This looks as correct as anything I’ve ever seen on a Pierce. I know the picture is awful but you get the idea of the shape. Can other people verify this is original equipment?
I was wondering if a piece of extruded rubber in this shape would work for restorations. I’d think that metal would be hard to duplicate and hard to make the bends. Thoughts?
I now understand this material available from LeBaron Bonney…..
It is probably the same as used on my ’32 Ford…
Yes, that’s correct, for some reason I’ve gone years and not known this…!
