Upon disassembling my U-Joints there is about .060″ of play between the cross and the cap. With this style of joint how much play is acceptable? I know .060 is too much but I’m not familiar with this style that has the hardened shafts running in hardened cups and no rollers or bushings.
When cleaning the joint a .190 ball bearing fell out and I don’t see anyplace it could go. Any suggestions.
Has anybody had any luck finding an off the shelf replacement joint.
The 2 cups in the half to the driveshaft have snap rings in grooves to hold the cups in and I don’t see any way to get the rings out through the small opening. The 2 in the flange half are just a press fit. Jim Livings”
