It is far easier to just top-off your gas tank each time you go for a drive than it is to get a K-S gas gauge to work properly.

The K-S gas gauge is why God created electric gas gauges.

The WD-40 Solution, that is, the Red Tube that James mentioned, is the foolproof method.

I bought the kit with the new brass tube, ran it forward to my gauge, installed the fluid with a full tank of gas and then became frustrated when it did not work.

Later, I considered the WD-40 solution, but have yet to install it.

Now, I just fill up before any significant drives.

BTW, I believe that Chris Diekman knows how to properly install the K-S system and make it functional.

    Good luck on your quest.

    Richard,

I understand that 91 /93 octane fuel (Premium) does not separate / degrade as do the Regular (87) or Mid-Grade (89) gasolines.

The higher octane gas does no harm to a Pierce-Arrow engine.

Below, I post a link to a SUNOCO article on Fuel Stability.

    Cheers,

    Peter

    Jack,

Upon further consideration, I believe that i took my pipes to a local muffler shop and they made up the pipes and got me a correct size muffler that worked for my Series 80.

Contact Waldron Exhausts, they are supposed to be on the Parts &  Services section of this website.

in reply to: door hinge lubrication #423383

    Jim,

I wanted to remove the hinge pins on my Series 80 (front doors, top hinge) so that I could install hinge-mount sideview mirrors.

    They would NOT come out!

I too removed the hinge from the door, oiled it and banged the snot out of it.

I could not get them to move!

I took them to my mechanic and he did all types of things to them, but to no avail.

He then asked me if I REALLY wanted it out, and I said yes.

He asked if he could TORCH THEM.

He did, and the pins came out.

I have a can of touch-up paint, so I then repainted them by hand.

Now, they look fine (small exposure), and the PEEP mirrors are in place and quite helpful.

If you are messing with a 95-year-old motorcar, expect to occasionally be stopped dead in your tracks for a few hours until you figure out how to execute what you thought would be a 20-minute job.

    Gents & Ladies,

The OPTIMA RED-TOP, 6-VOLT BATTERY DEAL is COMING SOON!

I understand from Optima-Jim that it should run from 1 April through 15 April.

It is only 2-weeks in duration this year, but it will run.

Everyone NEEDS to tell their Non-Message Board / Emporium watching PAS buddies about the deal, and that they NEED to come Online to get the details.

I will post the ordering information here on the Message Board and on the Emporium as soon as I have it.

    Gents & Ladies,

Both Larry and June Gould were great supporters of the national PAS and of the New England PAS in particular.

They were both wonderful folks an they are both missed at our various PAS get-togethers.

    May they both Rest-in-Peace.

    Jim,

The aluminum will corrode, so you should consider painting it with clear coat after installing & pinning it.

Or, you might consider going to a Locksmith and see if they have said cap kicking around on one of the zillion similar locks they have in their boxes of stuff.

They also might even have the correct lock that just needs to be keyed to your P-A key.

Finally, some PAS guys likely have something like it in their box of locks.

I will look in my small collection of door/spare tire locks.

    Is it a Yale Lock?

    Bill,

It is not difficult to get any Graphics or Sign Company to reproduce something like that, but they will require a minimum order of X-Number of pieces, so you will have a bunch to sell.

You will just need to come up with the rough artwork, including colors, and they will create it for you as a decal, or whatever.

    Gents,

That is Vin Cahill’s Series 80.

It was posted here for a while, but then disappeared.

It is a nice car, but I don’t know if it remains available.

in reply to: Trailer length #411801

    Ken,

The Feather-Lite is an all aluminum frame, and Ed Minnie will argue against it because if you torque your Feather-Lite frame, you cannot straighten it as you can with a steel framed trailer.

in my area, Feather-Lite trailers are for Horse-People who tow their horses to Equestrian competitions with their Range Rover HSE.

There are a TON of good car hauler trailer makers out there.

To respond to Tony’s post, there are about six in the Hazleton, PA area, if that is at all significant in your case.

I have a United Trailer, UTX model with all kinds of bells and whistles.

It is an Aluminum body on a steel frame.

If you wish to discuss the long list of what you need on a trailer, be in touch.
