| Vehicle History | This Pierce was owned by a commercial real estate broker in Stevens Point Wisconsin. During WWII he worked for Clintonville’s FWD truck plant. The car was used on the first date with his future bride. It was put aside next to a building in 1948 and sat until purchased by Paul Zei from Green Bay, who started restoration in 1963 including an engine rebuild. The car was mostly stripped and parts stuffed in many boxes. He had to sell the car due to family obligations and it was purchased by a gentleman who subsequently was injured and ultimately died in an airplane accident. I was looking for a Pierce-Arrow or Packard to restore in 1980 and found this Pierce, but at that point the owner rethought his decision to sell and decided to restore it himself. Meanwhile I found a very rough ’36 Packard to restore, and ten years later I was on a business trip to the Midwest and thought I would detour to finally meet the owner and see the Pierce. “Funny thing you should call.” After a couple of false starts the restoration began in 2013. Completed after many challenges 2023. |
