I just removed 4 from wheels of a 1934 that burned in a barn fire last year. I didn’t have to bee too careful because the paint on the wheels was damaged in the fire. The beauty rings have a row of tabs on the back of the ring that are slightly bent out to yield a diameter just a tad larger than the wheel rim where they fit. I used a wooden paint stiring stick to carefully hanmmer between the ring and the wheel, going around the wheel a bit at a time. Three came off easily. One was a real toughie, but finally came off. They buffed out beautifully and are going on my new ’33 I am now completing. Hope this helps
