My understanding is that some years back a run of exhaust manifolds was made, and I suppose there are a few unused ones still in circulation among Society members. We all know that it’s one of the critical items to have “on the shelf” to keep our cars on the road (along with an extra UU2/UUR-2 Stromberg, and a Gemmer steering box).
How many of you are in need of an exhaust manifold at this point? While the one on my ’30 B is functional, it does have cracks and I foresee its replacement in the future. With CAD and 3D printing there are some possibilities and I’ve been reaching out to some fabrication shops and foundries about estimates and a possible way forward…
Who’s in need a of a manifold at this point?

Carl,
The Museum had a run of ’29 Manifolds done years ago. There are still four in stock. However, they are different than the “30. The foundry that made them has gone out of business. One thing you might check is the “Lock and Stitch” method (now Wartsilla). They have associated shops around the country. It work swell on cast iron but I do not know how it would work on the temperature cycling an exhaust manifold goes through. Perhaps someone else here has experience with it on exhaust manifolds.

Thanks for the lock and stitch references, Dave. I’ll see what they might offer.
