    Hi guys

I am in the process of painting my 1929 133 with artillery wheels.

The car has been repainted some time in the 50s or 60s. The brake drums were painted with the artillery wheel spokes and hubs. What color are the drums supposed to be. Were they painted with the wheels or painted (black)before the assembly to the hubs. Any information is appreciated.

When I did mine a couple of years back I removed the drums & painted them black & painted the wheels separate. Sapphire Blue wheels to match the body as per the 1929 Data book. BUT I will stand corrected as the usual “Any color that you were willing to pay for”” usually applies.

The bolts that held the drums to the hubs & wheels were originally riveted over the nuts on the inside the drums. I ground off the riveted bit & reassembled with hi strength Locktite Nut Lock.

You need to carefully mark all drums & wheels with witness marks to make sure that they ALL go back together exactly the way they were.”
