Greg makes a very good point that many miss. We all know to make sure the connections are clean on the frame when we install cables. The problem can be the frame connections are corroded. You may have a great connection between the cables and the frame but, the connection between the frame components themselves is poor. Many cars have the cables bolted to the crossmember. The frames and crossmembers were riveted together many years ago. Over time corrosion between them can become a problem. Sand blasting only cleans the outside, not the mating surfaces. Bolting the cable to the starter itself eliminates the issue. You can’t change basic ohms law. If you use an ohm meter with long jumper leads to check different areas of the frame, you might be surprised at what you find.

You can buy a “optima battry hold down”” from Snyder’s antique auto parts.(888-2625712). Fits the Ford Model A hold down studs. Don’t know if it will fit the PA studs.”

The Optima battery hold down from Snyders. I have fitted one of these. But it needs some minor mods to end mountings to allow you to fit it. It is a good start for modifying for the Pierce job.. It is made of thick gauge stainless steel.
