electric conduit

Part of one of the previous threads discussed the wiring along the chassis being in conduits on ’29’s. My ’35 has no evidence of conduits in the wiring, but was messed with to unknown extents in the ’60’s. Was Pierce still using metal conduit in ’35?

Flex conduit was used in 1929, 1930, and I believe 1931.Wiring was cloth covered with colored stripes, soldered, and rubber covered over the wire ends. Color coding is shown in the Pierce parts manual. There may not have been one after 1930, but the coding was possibly the same for future cars.

I cheated with the wire gauge: #16 went to #14, #14 went to #12, and #12 went to #10 gauge. I also ran an extra wire to each light unit, added horn relays and head lite relays to make the horn and light switches to last longer.

Yes, wiring conduit with junction boxes was used in 1931. No such conduit was used in 1935.
